Synopsis
For the past 50 years, the Cambridge Hotel has stood, unmoving, in the heart of Newcaslte. Starting as a destitute ‘watering hole’, it has since evolved into one of the best live music venues in New South Wales. From featuring on the list of NSW’s Most Violent Venues to pulling some of the biggest names in Australian and International music, the Cambridge Hotel has proved how possible it is to reinvent yourself and your brand. What does it take to change how an entire city views a venue? Was the paradigm shift on purpose or just luck? And what does it mean for a band to play in this venue nowadays? We’ve decided to deep dive into this iconic place, partly because of how much we love this venue ourselves and partly because it has become the beating heart of one of Australia’s best live music scenes, offering a great memories for thousands and thousands of people.
